SPOKANE, Wash. – Current Logger Kaleb Shelton ’12 and his brothers brought home their first Hoopfest Elite Division title this year, with a 20-13 win over the two-time defending champs, Tonicx. With 10 points in the final game, former Logger Aubrey Shelton ’05 was named the Most Valuable Player.

Hoopfest is an annual 3-on-3 tournament in Spokane, Wash., and is “the largest 3-on-3 tournament on the planet,” according to the Hoopfest website. The event was expected to draw over 27,000 participants this year in a variety of divisions.

The Shelton brothers (Kaleb, Aubrey, Austin, and Ben) played in the tournament’s premier division – the Elite Over-6′ Division this weekend under the team name Mammasboys. It was their third year competing in the Elite Division, after winning multiple Family Division titles from 2005-08.

The Elite Division featured 31 teams vying for the Hoopfest title in a double-elimination format. The Shelton brothers went 6-1 on the tournament to take down the defending champs and win their first Elite Division title.

Kaleb was the Loggers’ leading scorer and rebounder last year as a junior. Aubrey played for the Loggers from 2001-05, helping the Loggers to back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances in 2004 and 2005. Ben also played football at Western Washington University.
