Senator Robert Dole to Speak at Grinnell College November 13

GRINNELL, IA — Senator Robert Dole will speak at Grinnell College on November 13 as the keynote address of a week-long college and community celebration to honor World War II veterans. Since leaving elected office after the 1996 president campaign, Dole has taken an active leadership role in a wide variety of public policy and charitable causes, including the National World War II memorial, serving as chair of the International Commission on Missing Persons, and co-chairing with former President Clinton a foundation to assist the spouses and children of victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Dole is also a co-recipient of the 2008 World Food Prize this week for his work with former Senator George McGovern to enhance school nutrition programs for the world's poorest children.

Dole's appearance at Grinnell College, sponsored by the college's Rosenfield Program in Public Affairs, International Relations, and Human Rights, is part of World War II commemoration activities planned by the town of Grinnell's Community Education Council.
