International Students Fond of Distance Learning Degrees in Germany According to Survey

Distance learning degree programmes have become highly popular in the past few years, and especially in the past months when the ability to travel from one country to another has been restricted due to the coronavirus pandemic. The year 2020 proved to be a year of innovation when it comes to experimenting with the traditional classroom, in most countries of the world.

According to an elaborate survey by Studying-in-Germany.org, turns out more than half of potential international students would consider getting a distance learning degree in Germany. The results show that a total of 74.7% of students, out of over 2000 surveyed, admitted that distance learning degree programmes are among their study options.

The German education system is highly regarded for its expertise in teaching. Ever since the pandemic outbreak, the higher education institutions in Germany have also shown an excellent response towards keeping students and staff safe. Both students and teachers have been introduced to a new way of learning, which brought the university campus within a computer screen.

The pandemic is not the only reason why international students have shown an increased interest in distance learning degree programmes in Germany. Specifically, the flexibility that comes with pursuing a degree online is one of the top reasons that would make an international student choose a distance learning course, closely followed by the advantage of lower costs, according to the survey.

The remaining percentage of students (25.3%) who said they would not consider a distance learning degree programme, agreed it is because they feel like traditional classes are more efficient, and that campus life and socializing are important aspects of the university experience. Germany is generally known to have a dual education system, which prioritizes not only the theoretical part of learning but also the practical one.

Many international students have shifted their attention to Germany as a study destination, and this is not simply due to the quality of teaching it provides, but also due to its attractive healthcare system, notable pandemic management, as well as outstanding student support. During the last few months, these traits have proven to be essential for all international student destinations.
