Lancaster University is among the best institutions for specialized MBA programs in cybersecurity, a recent study has found.

According to research by MastersDegree.net, a leading education resource platform, Lancaster University is followed by American University (Kogod) and Baylor University (Hankamer), Erudera.com reports.

Tuition for cybersecurity degree programs at Lancaster is £36,000 (€42,052). Some of the programs, such as cybersecurity core technologies, cybersecurity operations and incident response, global operations and marketing management in the cyber context, and more, are delivered in the hybrid mode.

There are 11,986 students enrolled at Lancaster University, of which 3,022 are international students hailing from 142 countries. Of the total number of students attending the university, 3,469 are enrolled in the Faculty of Science and Technology.

Last year, Lancaster University launched a new MBA program via its Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), providing education in cybersecurity leadership for business professionals.

“We have developed our Cyber Executive MBA programme to deliver the next generation of cyber leaders, ensuring that increasingly vital cyber security knowledge and skills are firmly embedded in the top decision-making tiers of UK businesses,” Professor of Cybersecurity at Lancaster University, Daniel Prince, said in a statement released in June 2023.

A report by the UK government titled "Cybersecurity Skills in the UK Labour Market" found that half of the businesses in the United Kingdom have been facing a basic cybersecurity skills shortage and 33 percent struggle with more advanced skills.

Research reveals that some other universities that offer top MBA in cybersecurity programs are located in the United States, and most of them offer online or even hybrid programs.

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for cybersecurity professionals is increasing, with job positions such as Information Systems Managers witnessing notable growth rates of 32 percent and 15 percent, respectively.

Cybersecurity careers in the United States pay between $80,000 and $250,000 per year, depending on several factors, including occupation, experience, and more.

One of the latest surveys by Cybershark Recruitment suggests cybersecurity salaries in the United Kingdom are rising.

“Northern Ireland has become a hub for cyber security companies and demand for candidates is extremely high, and so with demand we see salaries have risen an average of 9.73% across all year groupings,” the report said.

The survey, in partnership with SC Media UK, found that salaries in 17 out of 20 cybersecurity job categories increased in the past year.
